Amitabha Sadangi becomes an honorary member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum. The World Entrepreneurship Forum is a think tank…

amitabhaIt has been always believed that only the rich can develop and build enterprises. However, my experience of working with the poor, over the past decades has strengthened the belief that innovation can arise and be nurtured from the grassroots itself.

It has been a pleasure to witness the development of hundreds of micro social enterprises, supported by IDEI, over these years. A small farmer who could only dream of providing food and other basic essentials for his family; is today able to not only earn extra income from the crops, but has also taken dealership for KB products, provides guidance to other farmers on what to grow when, has tied up with seed and fertiliser companies to provide him the best deals and of course has negotiated prices with the output market as well.

It is the emergence of these small, mini enterprises which makes me believe that the future belongs to those who believe in taking chances.

The World Entrepreneurship Forum provides a platform for us to learn and share, to understand and gain more knowledge, to recognise and advocate that it is the social entrepreneurs who can lead the future towards sustainable development.
