1) "Superwomen All of Us" : TP Success Story
’It’s an availability of cash everyday now......my field is a picturesque defining tale of prosperity. All thanks to KB Pump which is a main hero of my field” says Asha.
Asha a progressive farmer owning 0.4 Ha of land is nicknamed as superwomen as her initiative of installing KB Pump in the field led her to prosperity. Now, there are two sources of income for running the household, one from irrigation of field round the year and the other from her son’s shop of repair and maintenance of electrical equipments.
Earlier, she irrigated field by rented diesel pump costing USD 2 per hour and earned only USD 340 in two seasons by growing wheat, paddy along with negligible vegetables. Bearing household expenses was difficult so her husband Rajendra migrated to city for work. With no sustainability of work he barely earned to send pittance back home. Further he was distressed with irregular meals, sleeping on street and isolation.
In November 2007 Asha met Leelavati in SHG meeting. Leelavati shared her field success by owning irrigation technology-KB Pump. Witnessing Leelavati’s economic growth she decided to install KB Pump on her field. Asha took loan of US$ 20 from SHG and purchased KB Pump. She planted high yield crops like cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, chilly, coriander, capsicum, potato, carrot, spinach and radish. She sold farm output directly in local markets for better price.
First year yield fetched her earning of USD 550. With which she returned SHG loan and admitted her son in professional course of electronic machine-repair and maintenance. There was no lack of nutrition in kitchen. Seeing sustainable success Rajendra quit city work and joined his wife in the field. Smiles were not occasional now & work on field continued with sincerity. Second year yield fetched her USD 770.
With enhanced monetary returns, they constructed a room, toilet and a small shop for son. She also deposits USD 6 with the SHG for future safety. Village farmers now admired Asha for her achievements in life.

2) "None But the Brave Deserves the Best' : KB Drip Success Story
“Any old man’s nature is to protest against technology including me but KB system has made this statement completely false and has saved many farmers’ holds from the recent recession by increasing the yield and to cultivate two – three profitable crops a year. KB system has made farmers rich all year. I also believe that this is the best technology to enhance the future of Indian agriculture and bring to global standards” Govindarajan at the age of sixty adds.
Right from his childhood Govindarajan was supporting his father in agriculture and learnt all the tits and tats. The village was known for sugarcane cultivation. Cultivated crops were sold to the sugarcane factories in the area for a fixed price. Rain fall is the main source of ground water recharge and during the last decade this sources has become erratic and sometimes very low. Drought in the region has made the farmers life difficult. Affected the cultivation of sugarcane terribly. Finally, farmers started to migrate towards cities leaving their lands in the hands of the sugarcane factories, with the perception that depending on agriculture as a source of income was unanswered. Remaining farmers were struggling hard to support their families and shifted crop which reduced their income. Govindarajan was one among them who refused to migrate and was endlessly struggling shift crop. He started hunting for solutions to successfully irrigate his land. His strong desire to find a solution led him to an advertisement to a nearby village where one of his friends’s informed him about an exhibition to be held in the next village. Both of them attended the exhibition and Govindarajan learnt about KB technologies available to use water wisely. Govindarajan was initially hesitating to adopt assuming they are very expensive and was old enough to use them. So he never bothered but upon the insistence of his friend he adopted to technology. He clarified all his doubts about price, use, maintenance etc by conducting a dialogue with IDE (I) staff. Govindarajan was convinced and immediately installed the system on his land in spite of the hardship. From the day one he was able to clearly note the difference in the amount of water required to irrigate by using KB technology. He saved in the cost of fertilizer and also electricity consumption. He was amazed with the yield during the first harvest and made very good profit of Rs. 20,000/acre (USD 500). With the profit he bought a sugarcane crusher to make Indian sugar balls. Now he directly sells sugar balls in the market and to some local vendors. He feels happy about the technology which really saved many farmers from recent recession.
Ultimately, he finds the system user friendly and saves time and feels secured. At present, he has installed KB only in 1 acre of land and he is also planning to bring the remaining land under KB system. His wife is proud of Govindarajan because at this age he is economically independent.
